Declaration of Commitment to the Promotion of Knowledge for Development

As a network of learning institutions, acting collectively and in partnership with the World Bank, we are in agreement that knowledge sharing is a potent tool for development.

We renew our commitment to the vision and mission of our Knowledge for Development Centers (KDC):

VISION

The KDC is a proactive and dynamic resource center committed to creating, sharing, and applying knowledge for development.

MISSION

To serve as a hub for consultation and dialogue, a catalyst for innovation and knowledge sharing, and a change agent for transformational leadership and good governance.

To expand and strengthen the network of development partners beyond the traditional academic partners and linkages.

In line with our institutions’ vision and programs and using the resources in our community, including the KDCs, we undertake to share information, facilitate the exchange of experiences, and organize the appropriate fora for meaningful and informed discussions of development issues.

To promote knowledge sharing, we utilize a wide range of media and venues, including the Internet, distance learning, symposia, dialogues, printed and audiovisual materials such as those available to the public in the KDCs.

We affirm our belief that development is about people, and we support the country’s desire for social progress, better governance, and economic stability. Within this framework, we continue to establish, expand, and strengthen our partnership with various groups in society.
