Fiscal Year 2003

Baguio Regreening Movement, Inc.
Php474,840.00
"Clean Air Campaign". The Clean Air Campaign project aims to contribute to improving air quality in Baguio City and its environs. The project seeks to address Baguio City's air pollution problems through (i) the enhancement of Baguio's watershed through tree-planting activities and seedling generation to be undertaken by children and women; and (ii) an information and media campaign through television, round table discussions and fora to be participated in by jeepney, bus and taxi drivers, concerned citizens, media and other professionals and concerned agencies of government.

Concerned Citizens Against Pollution (COCAP) / Partnership for Clean Air
Php474,840.00
"Tricycle Usok Program". This project targets the transport sector's most marginalized group—the tricycle drivers/operators. It seeks to help educate the said sector on government policies, innovations and opportunities for their development with the implementation of the Clean Air Act.

Foundation for Communication Initiatives (FOCI)
Php474,840.00
"Air Quality Information Dissemination Project". FOCI shares the World Bank's thrust that the education-information is one of the keys to develop the stakeholders' awareness and responsiveness to the improvement of air quality. Through this project, FOCI will: (a) develop, produce and distribute "Clean Air" information materials for media institutions; (b) create a venue for discussion – online and offline – among key players in government, business and civil society groups; and (c) gather support from other FOCI networks.

Free Rehabilitation, Economic, Education and Legal Assistance Volunteers Association, Inc. (FREELAVA, Inc.)
Php474,840.00
"Community-Based Advocacy Program for a Clean-Air Philippines". This project is in response to the growing concern on air pollution, brought about by the industrialization and urbanization of Metro Cebu. It involves the participation of: (i) men and women; and (ii) children and youth, as beneficiaries; (iii) Local Government Officials at the barangay and city level; and (iv) other sectors (i.e. school and church representatives, other government and non-government line agencies) as key stakeholders. Through this project, FREELAVA intends to: (a) build the capacities of communities and mandated local government structures/councils for the promotion and preservation of clean air communities; (b) build the capacities of government officials to become sensitive in sustaining a clean and healthy environment; and (c) model and institutionalize community-based advocacy approaches for the promotion and preservation of clean air through local ordinances and further appropriation of funds to sustain the project.

Women's Action Network for Development, Inc. (WAND)
Php474,840.00
"Conduct of a national conference". The proposed project hopes to address the low level of awareness and the lack of participation of local communities, especially women, in developing and implementing solutions to address air pollution. The national conference aims to enable 75 women representatives of NGOs and grassroots organizations to discuss women's issues and concerns in air pollution, develop concrete plans and pursue local action to mitigate air pollution.
